I made two films for pop-up card brand, Lovepop.
First, they wanted to make a film celebrating one of their best selling pop up cards featuring a butterfly. That was the brief they gave me, so I took that line and developed this story between a girl and her caterpillar friend. This was a film that I had just a literal couple thousand dollars to work with soup to nuts.
Since the story involves a caterpillar at several stages of its life until it blossoms into a butterfly, I had to make sure I had every one of those stages. So I started collecting baby caterpillars every week for a few weeks leading up to the shoot so they would grow up at different times, and I had an entire caterpillar/butterfly sanctuary set up in my room at one point.
Then, we created an anthem film for their Valentine’s Day cards, following multiple couples.
